A new job, new crash helmet, better sourdough recipe, modified beard, different bike? bigger allotment and 2 dogs less (that’s the really sad part) lots of new photos with oh yes, a new camera. I must say the whole social media gig is a bit tiring isn’t it? endless scrolling and clicking “Like” about things you don’t really “Like” but that’s what you do and then posting a picture and checking back to see how many people clicked “Like”
It does not really matter in the end but on the other hand is it a good way to stay in touch with people who the only thing that you have in common with is you clicked “Like” on each others posts!
So this is it, January, at the beginning of a year without being part of Europe what will it be like we ask ourselves, not very different I think but other opinions are available.
We have just returned from a fantastic couple of days in Paris where amongst other things (like eating the most perfect mille feuilles at Fauchon where I had the pleasure to work about 5 million years ago and drinking Champagne on the Champs Elysees) we visited the shrine of French kitchen equipment Dehillerin a shop that has been attracting chefs who go and wander amongst the aisles of very expensive copper pots and terrine moulds since 1820. I would definitely have purchased a Tart Tatin tin if it hadn’t been for the price in excess of 90 Euros.
Another brilliant place we visited was Caractere de Cochon a really small shop that sells the best Jambon Beurre in Paris. How fantastic can a ham sandwich be? Bread, salty butter and ham that’s all. The answer is you’ll have to go there and taste for yourself but it’s worth a Eurostar ticket just to do that.
